Feminism and women’s suffrage were and are a direct assault on biblical manhood. They evolved hand-in-glove. They are part and parcel of one another and one cannot exist without another. Of course, most of us realize this but not everyone realizes the immense damage caused by them or that they were a direct assault on manhood and a man’s God-given command to lead and provide for his own family. As such, it was also a direct assault on biblical womanhood, the biblical family, and a man’s position in the church and society.
Isaiah 3: 12, My people—infants are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your guides mislead you and they have swallowed up the course of your paths.
The first modern work on what would later become known as feminism was Mary Wollstonecraft’s A Vindication of the Rights of Woman in 1792. This, along with her other works, laid the foundation for the feminist ideas that were to follow.
The battle for women’s suffrage is just under 200 years old with the foundation for it being laid by Elizabeth Cady Stanton in The Declaration of Sentiments (1848). The 19th amendment which gave women the so-called right to vote is a little over a 100 years old.
From its beginning, women’s so called struggle for equality has been an attack on the truth and sufficiency of God’s Word, as well as the natures of and appointed spheres of males and females. This inevitably led to government usurping men’s position to lead, guide, protect, and be the head of their own families.
Contrary to what we have been led to believe, most women did not want the right to vote. It was seen as an assault on Scripture, biblical manhood, and biblical womanhood. Women’s suffrage was not a grassroots movement. Entire states, even areas of the country (the South in particular), men and women, and pastors and churches, fought against it. It was preached against, warned against, and written against. Robert L. Dabney addressed it in his work, Women’s Rights Women in 1871. This work was visionary and is well worth the time it takes to read.
Robert L. Dabney, “We must then make up our minds in accepting Women’s Rights to surrender our Bibles, and have an atheistic Government.”
Feminism and all the evils surrounding and accompanying it has done great damage to the church, family, and to women and men individually. Its attack on marriage and the duties of men and women has led to an intentional undermining of biblical roles and duties. Effeminacy in manhood is exalted while the debased masculinization of womanhood is also celebrated. Both are an affront to a holy God.
Attacks on biblical manhood and men’s roles in general are commonplace in our society. Movies, television shows, stand up comedians, articles, and books often focus on making men the butt of their jokes or emasculating them. Men must be undermined if feminist’s goals are to succeed.
Womanhood doesn’t get undermined unless manhood is undermined first. Men are, in God’s will, the protectors and guides of the women in their care (daughters and wives). They are the leaders in the home, the church, and society. When they are undermined, society falls into sin, and destruction of the natural order follows.
Feminists knew this. Their desire was to see the biblical pattern destroyed. Their desire was for men’s and women’s roles to be redefined in light of egalitarian thought.
Manhood is under attack and has been since the dawn of the women’s movement. The role of husband often seems to mean little more than being a co-wage earner and sharer of chores. Many men have taken the subservient role in their marriage. This was by design. A weak man won’t get in the way of women seeking to take on the male role.
“Who cares how men feel or what they do or whether they suffer? They have had over 2000 years to dominate and made a complete hash of it. Now it is our turn. My only comment to men is, if you don’t like it, bad luck – and if you get in my way I’ll run you down.” – Signed: Liberated Women, Boronia Herald-Sun, Melbourne >, Australia. 9 Feb., 1996.
So what has this led to?
-Through abortion laws, welfare, no fault divorce, and others, the government has usurped God’s command to men to provide for their own families.
-Through the 19th amendment, the government took away men’s right to lead and speak for their families.
-Government launched an assault on manhood and womanhood through transgenderism and so called gay rights.
-The women’s movement is an assault on manhood by promoting women in positions of authority, taking away God-given supremacy of men (by position not value), and the promotion of effeminacy.
-Forced vaccines take away man’s right to make health decisions for his own family.
Both outwardly and inwardly, feminism has corrupted everything glorious about manhood. Instead of promoting the Christ-honoring duties of manhood as taught by Scripture, feminism destroys men.
Feminism’s lies have wormed their way into every area of our lives, our homes, churches, and society. It’s poison has spread throughout our Western world. Feminism is evil yet it is blindly but firmly entrenched in our churches, our homes, and society.
It’s too late to prevent Christians from selling out to feminism but it’s not too late to fight against it. To do this, we must work toward exposing the truth to those who might still be blind to it.
Soli Deo Gloria!
